Bio

Leslie Brathwaite is a Grammy award-winning mix engineer from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The vibrant Caribbean music scene made a strong impression on him as a young teen, and he set up a studio in his bedroom with a small multitrack recorder. To expand his horizons and learn more about audio, he attended Full Sail University in Florida.

After graduating from the Recording Arts program in 1992, Brathwaite moved to Atlanta where a flourishing music scene was being driven by a group of producers that included Dallas Austin, Jermaine Dupri, Babyface, and L.A. Reid.

Brathwaite became an assistant to Dallas Austin at DARP studios, where he earned credits on albums by Boyz II Men and Outkast. His first major project was to record the debut single of R&B singer Monica, then make a rough mix of the song. Leslie’s breakthrough moment was when his mix was chosen for the release, ahead of others submitted by more seasoned engineers.

He moved to Patchwerk Studios in 2001, then to Akon's studio facility Music Box in 2012. He is currently still based in Atlanta, working primarily from his home studio.

Leslie Brathwaite has worked with a plethora of artists including Cypress Hill, Toni Braxton, Björk, Aretha Franklin, TLC, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Beyoncé, T‑Pain, Eminem, Jay‑Z, Pharrell Williams, Madonna, Young Jeezy, T.I., Michael Jackson, Cher, Mary J. Blige, 2Pac, and Notorious B.I.G.
