Bio

Steve Genewick is an American recording and mix engineer with vast experience in live show and studio environments. He has worked primarily out of Capitol Studios in Los Angeles as a staff engineer since 1994, having had the honour of collaborating regularly with the late 23-time Grammy award-winning engineer and producer Al Schmitt.

Genewick has worked with countless top-tier acts including Bastille, Elton John, Trisha Yearwood, Diana Krall, Gladys Knight, Neil Young, Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, and Paul McCartney. Aside from his time at Capitol, he has engineered at premium recording studios around the world such as United, Village, Abbey Road, and La Fabrique.

In 2017 he received the Pensado Award for Best Recording Engineer, and he was a part of the Universal Audio and Capitol Studios Team that won a TEC Award for the Capitol Chambers plug-in at the 2020 NAMM Conference.

Steve Genewick is also a pioneer of mixing records in Dolby Atmos — he completed his first Atmos projects in July 2017 and has been developing novel techniques ever since!
