Bio

Phil Tan is a Malaysian-American mixing engineer who has won multiple Grammy awards for his work on pop and urban music. In 1990, he attained a degree in Recording Arts at Full Sail University in Florida. Afterwards, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he embarked on a career as a recording engineer. His first big break came in 1992 with influential producer and rapper Jermaine Dupri. After proving himself behind the console, he became a regular at Dupri's Southside Studios, where he started earning his first major credits. His first Grammy win came in 2005, when he was awarded Best Contemporary R&B Album for his work on Mariah Carey's 'The Emancipation of Mimi'. He has acquired other awards and nominations for his collaborations with Ludacris, Rihanna, Usher, Gwen Stefani, Leona Lewis, Ne-Yo, and Katy Perry. Other artists worked with include Jay Z, BTS, Kylie Minogue, Little Mix, Ariana Grande, Zara Larsson, Olly Murs, Coldplay, Jason Derulo, Selena Gomez, Wiz Khalifa, Sean Paul, Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Calvin Harris, Whitney Houston, Rita Ora, Jennifer Lopez, and Pixie Lott. In 2015, Modern Mixing described Phil Tan as "one of the most successful mixing engineers of all time", noting that he worked on "26 singles that have reached number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart”.
