Philip Weinrobe is a Grammy-nominated producer, recording engineer, and mixer known for his intimate, performance-driven approach to record-making. His credits include Adrianne Lenker, Big Thief, Tomberlin, Lonnie Holley, and Theo Katzman.
A key figure in Brooklyn’s independent recording scene, Weinrobe helped build Figure 8 Recording before establishing his own studio, Sugar Mountain. His work is defined by a commitment to capturing musicians in the room together, embracing bleed, dynamics, analog recording, and unconventional techniques to preserve the energy of a live performance.
His long-running collaboration with Adrianne Lenker includes ‘songs’, ‘instrumentals’, and ‘Bright Future’, the latter earning a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album. Across his work, Weinrobe has developed a distinctive sound rooted in spontaneity, intimacy, and the character of the performance itself.
