Michael, your emphasis on making sure you’re able to focus on the mix like you’re playing an instrument really unlocked so much for me. I make sure to compartmentalize all the track prep I need to do (pops, weird midrange tones, routing) the day before I sit to perform a mix so that can remain purely a creative exercise. In hindsight, it’s so obviously beneficial, but I’m sure there are many others who are trying to do “track maintenance” while being creative, and wondering why they never feel like they can catch that wave. Thanks for sharing so much of your knowledge. It has made an immense difference in my growth.
