Bio
Idania Valencia is a mastering engineer from Mexico City.
Her passion for music began as a young teenager when she started playing the piano and writing songs.
This led her to pursue a degree in music composition at Academia de Musica Fermatta.
She was strongly advised by her parents to study composition only under the condition that she also undertook music production and engineering as a backup plan.
Over time, Idania became more drawn to the areas of production and engineering.
She eventually found her strongest interest in the field of audio mastering.
She moved to Orlando, Florida, where she studied at Full Sail University to continue her training in audio engineering.
Shortly after graduating in 2015, Idania landed an internship at Sterling Sound mastering studios in Manhattan, New York.
A few months later, she was offered a job at Sterling Sound as part of Tom Coyne’s production team alongside her mentors Aya and Randy Merrill.
After Tom’s passing, Idania continued working as Randy’s production engineer.
In 2017 she mastered her first single – Tove Lo’s ‘Influence’ remix by TM88.
Since then, Idania has mastered projects for a variety of successful artists including Sam Smith, Shawn Mendes, James Arthur, Gryffin, Of Monsters and Men, X Ambassadors, Lukas Graham, Jake Wesley Rogers, Jordan Davis, and Marina.
Idania currently lives in Fort Lee, New Jersey with her husband Fernando Reyes, who also works in the music industry as a mixing engineer.
