Description
From co-founding the TikTok ‘Hype House’ to breaking records on the US and UK charts, Alex Warren’s career has been anything but ordinary. Join him and his producer Adam Yaron as they share the story of ‘WILDCHILD’, a heartfelt power ballad featuring cascading strings, elegant chord changes, and an unforgettable guitar solo from John Mayer.
Written from the perspective of Alex’s late father, ‘WILDCHILD’ draws on the home videos, notes and letters he left behind. Explore the team’s thoughtful approach to lyrics, phrasing and storytelling as they unpack their songwriting process step by step. The duo takes a closer look at the song’s melody and harmony, using core music theory principles to build flowing transitions and tonal shifts.
In addition to the writing and composition aspects, Alex and Adam also discuss their experience recording at Gnome in Nashville. Learn how they tracked guitars, drums, vocals and more through the studio’s vintage API console, and discover the analog and digital processing that added a distinct character to the record.
