a lot of mixers, even on here, enhance the rough and take it to the next level, that extra"10/15%". Shawn completely made this a work of art. 100% this was a great song and production, but what this mix did to this song....

So what I believe is happening (maybe Shawn will see this and correct me if I'm wrong lol) he's created a master fader as in (track - new - master fader) when you do that you're creating a track that everything from your mix goes into, and then you set the output (usually by default your monitors or output or whatever) but in this case he's then set the output to a further mix aux he's created (MASTER AUX) so when you're seeing 37-38 on that master 3 track you're looking at an output not an input. I hope I've explained that the way my adhd brain intended =)

Dying to watch this one! Love Shawn's approach. I hope he comes back on here and breaks down his mix for SZA - Good Days. The difference between the original mix and Shawn's mix is unreal. Probably my favourite mix of his on an incredible tune.

I absolutely rejoice in the fact that Shawn (by his own repeated admittance) completely clusterfucks the mix and distorts and "screws it up" only to end up with the most pristine and beautiful result. This only goes to show how much more the sum is more than its parts and how harmonics and blending contribute to the picture. I love every bit of this. And Shawn, if you are reading this, you may doubt some of your mixing decisions but your grammy was more than deserved. This is the opposite of textbook mixing and I believe that this is the key. I bow to you.
