Description
Tony Hoffer kicks off this five-part series by retracing his steps through the industry. The multi-Grammy-nominated engineer describes how he worked his way up the ranks and built long-lasting relationships with a plethora of world-class artists including Beck, Air, Phoenix, M83 and many more.
Tony then plays back the original recordings that he made with British indie pop band, The Kooks, sharing outtakes from their early studio sessions at Konk and Strongroom. He discusses how he and the band collaborated to define their signature sound, placing particular emphasis on pre-production, performance coaching and session planning. You will learn all of his technical strategies for gear selection, bleed reduction, tempo cues, comping on tape and digital post-production.
These production decisions contributed to creating a hit single that launched the band’s career and introduced a new generation to the sound of Britpop.
