Description
Step inside Studio A of The Village with Grammy-winning engineer and producer Ed Cherney! This series features the song 'Game On' by rock band The Rides – part of an album that Ed recorded and mixed. He revisits the multi-track, which was originally captured live with vocal overdubs to tape, then transferred to Pro Tools. He recalls how the entire album was both tracked and mixed on a Neve 8078 console, then considers how it can be remixed in hybrid fashion. Cherney takes you through his session setup, effects routing, and song structure, then mixes the project from scratch. Throughout the process, he refers to recording techniques, realising the band's vision, and reasons for treating signals in certain ways. Cherney discusses the benefits and drawbacks associated with analog and digital audio, and shows you how he harnesses the power of both!
