Ok, at some point in this video he mentions Pro Tools sends being pre insert...which they are NOT. They are post insert meaning if you put a send on a track with inserts on it, the inserts are included in your send (EQ, Compression, etc.). In the next video, he realizes this and corrects himself that indeed...Pro Tools sends are POST insert.

At 8:20, he says the pre-fader send is also pre inserts. Is that true? I taught PT sends are always post inserts....

Sends in PT can be set PRE or POST Fader, in Logic there's also another option which is POST Pan. So the send are always POST INSERT (don't know if other DAW have different option). However if needed you can route your track out to an auxiliary bus and put your insert on the auxiliary channel, now if you send your signal from the original track the send is pre insert.

great video-- love hearing different perspectives and approaches from rock n roll mix engineers. I found this video to be very educational. Nick is basically sharing his approach and it is up to us to keep these techniques in our book of tricks so that we can use when needed, if we so chose decide to use them :0 The point being, it's awesome to learn from these guys! As a rock n roll guy, I love the Nick, Andy Wallace (favorite) JJP videos. Would love to see Evil Joe B deconstruct a mix or another Andy Wallace deconstructing a mix +Nirvana/System of a down (toxicity) stuff.. Great Job again NICK!! such a cool down to earth mellow dude.. love his vibe and his mixing approach. Thanks MWTM for sharing these cool videos.
