Description
After a decade crafting hit songs in his bedroom, Finneas set out to make a live studio album with some of his favorite musicians. Follow the superstar producer into the studio for a look at the making of his critically acclaimed single, ‘For Cryin’ Out Loud!’, featuring a detailed mix deconstruction by Jon Castelli.
Finneas launches headfirst into multitrack recording, presenting each of the talented musicians that joined him on the record. Written and recorded in approximately 24 hours, Finneas explores the origins of the song and the steps he took to turn a live jam into a complete arrangement. He listens back to each instrument and shares insight into his creative process and studio philosophies.
Later in the series, Jon Castelli joins in to explore how the song evolved during the mixing stage. He deconstructs the final mix in Pro Tools, demonstrating his advanced approach to balance, EQ, clipping, saturation and much more. With a focus on dynamics, tone, and separation, Jon demonstrates how you can transform a well-recorded live performance into a radio-ready single.

About Finneas
Finneas Baird O’Connell (known mononymously as 'Finneas') is a multiple Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor from Los Angeles. In 2010, at age twelve, he took a songwriting class with his mother, then purchased Logic Pro and began to write and produce songs. Jon Castelli is a 15x GRAMMY-nominated mix engineer based in Downtown Los Angeles.
